How to stick to your New Year’s Resolution

The New Year has begun, and with it many of us felt this excitement of a new start, a fresh beginning and a shift in energy. I think it’s a beautiful tradition to get mindful and reflect over your growth and think about things/situations/people/thoughts/feelings you want to take with you into the new year, what to let go of, and what to create. Many of us like to set ‘goals’ for the months ahead, others don’t even bother to avoid frustration and disappointment when they don’t reach them.

But what about making them reachable instead?

Let’s say you want that perfect body, which is absolutely achievable for you if you really want to. But it takes a lot of discipline, and let’s be honest, a strict diet and workout plan for the rest of your life doesn’t sound like a lot of fun, does it?
So what about setting the intention of becoming healthier? Adding more greens to your plate (find some that you like, don’t force yourself to eat anything that makes you want to throw up), getting some fresh air each day, giving your body some movement.
What about setting the intention of actively working towards feeling more comfortable in your body? Appreciating it consciously, replacing negative thoughts with thoughts that make you feel better.
The key is to get to the core of our wishes (in this case more health and appreciation for one’s body), and track down the baby steps that help us integrate this new ‘us’ into our daily life.  Just try it, this works on any change you wish for.

Let me add a little side note before you tune into the ecstasy of creation:
Of course you don’t need a new year to start something new or let go of anything that does not longer serve you. It’s a beautiful tradition, and a big event like a new year seems to have somewhat like a clean slate, good omen or even something magical to it, but you can start fresh any day. So if there’s something that came to your mind while you read this , start now, rather than next week or tomorrow.
Today is a good day to fascinate yourself.
There’s no need to wait until you are ready. You don’t need to warm up before you try a fresh thought or do something your heart always wanted you to do.

Resolutions are about decisions. Decide that you’re down for that transformation and then embody it. Let your thoughts, actions and words come from that new energy in you, and do the baby steps. And most important, have fun while doing so. I believe in you!

Lots of love x Lotta
